What is the opportunity?
- Map the mind of a collective/ community by surfacing and sense making a cluster of thoughts, behaviors, repeated patterns of response, etc.
- Build & test hypotheses to understand the people and derive insights for intervention design
- Collaborate with other teams to surface relevant scenarios, case examples, other inputs etc. needed for program design
- Create high quality interim research products e.g. belief maps, ethno-maps
What are the skills required?
- strong perceptual ability (be able to perceive and distinguish between thoughts, behaviors, responses, mental models, etc.)
- Ability to use ethnographic techniques & methodologies (e.g. sharp field observations, conduct & facilitate FGDs, interviews, etc.)
- Ability to work in short design cycles & iterate to meet outcomes
- Ability to sense-make & analyse large amounts of qualitative data
- Ability to mine data for intervention design inputs
Pre-requisites:
- Positive interest in human behavior and a desire to enable people
- Willing to travel extensively to project locations on research sprints
- Strong knowledge and previous experience of conducting qualitative research
